                Kristen Washer
Program Director, Kristen Washer

Kristen joined the Salish team in 2008. Kristen comes to Salish with a passion for spreading knowledge and stewardship to our region's future adults. Upon graduating with a degree in Biology and Marine Biology from Long Island University in New York she took to the seas, spending years aboard schooners and sloops, first as a student then in the roles of Program Coordinator and Deckhand with Ocean Classroom Foundation, South Street Seaport Museum, and Hudson River Sloop Clearwater Inc. She has also spent time as an adjunct professor for M.A.R.E at Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire. She believes highly in the value of getting students out into the elements for a lasting education, as they understand and absorb so much more when they are out in the field or on a boat.  When she is off boats she spends her time working as a wildlife rehabilitator, naturalist and educator with The Vermont Institute of Natural Science and most recently West Sound Wildlife Shelter.

Kelley Garrison BioSource Watershed Program Coordinator, Kelley Garrison

Kelley joined Salish in 2010 as a program staff Marine Scientist. She quickly fell in love with the organization and jumped at the opportunity to stay aboard as the Source Watershed Program Coordinator in 2012. Kelley grew up with a fascination of all things water-related which led her to pursue a B.S. in Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont, with a focus on community development and freshwater ecology.  After jumping around the country a bit, engaging in various water gigs along the way, she ended up at the University of Montana and obtained a M.S. degree in Environmental Studies with a focus in hydrology in 2010.  No matter what she's studying however, she is at her happiest engaging students in the natural world through various watershed education programs, working for programs in VT, MT, Honduras, and now Washington. When she's not geeking out on water, you can find her biking around Seattle streets, hiking in the woods, or badly strumming on her guitar.
