On Thursday, October 27th, Salish Sea Expeditions will host the 3nd Annual Patrons of Discovery Breakfast. Please join us as we share a look inside the Salish experience to learn why our program inspires and motivates students to unique and fulfilling voyages in education.
Dr. Bonnie Dunbar, former NASA Astronaut and immediate past president and CEO of the Museum of Flight will provide key remarks that bring home to Puget Sound how exploration is a critical component in science education, and how strong science influences strong stewardship.
While we deeply appreciate financial support, it is equally important to introduce new people to the organization, and the Breakfast provides a powerful opportunity. Through the eyes of students, staff and teachers, we will virtually board the 61’ sailing research vessel Carlyn to best understand the scope of the educational experience, the impact on the participating individuals and the benefits for our communities. Guests will learn about our efforts to get the students of the region out on the Sound, excited about science and committed as stewards.
There is no charge to attend. Those who feel moved to make a financial contribution will be invited to do so.
Doors open at 7:30 a.m., with a one hour program beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Thanks to all for making the 2010 Patrons of Discovery Breakfast huge success!
On Thursday, October 28th, Salish Sea Expeditions hosted the 2nd Annual Patrons of Discovery Breakfast. Close to 200 attendees joined us as we shared a look inside the Salish experience to learn why our program inspires and motivates students to unique and fulfilling voyages in education.
We are grateful to those who attended and to those who gave financial support, especially our new Patrons of Discovery Society members, those who made a five-year financial pledge to Salish. These gifts will create a stable base of operating revenue over a multi-year horizon.
Karass Creative of Seattle brought the joy of sailing and science on the Sound to the screen; the premier showing of Rob Dalton's "Come Explore the Salish Sea" enfused great light to the blustery fall morning. Mark Schrader of Around the Americas, fresh off a multi-year sail around North and South America, will provided key remarks that brought home to Puget Sound the need for strong science education programs like those provided by Salish Sea Expeditions.
Salish Council of Advisors member Mary Ruckelshaus and Seattle City Councilmember Sally Bagshaw also participated in the program.
