2014-15 Program Reservations
Thank you for your interest in Salish Sea Expeditions’ marine science and sailing programs. Each year Salish provides exciting educational experiences for hundreds of students around Puget Sound, grades 5-12. As our program books quickly we are encouraging schools to lock in dates for the upcoming school year.
Fall Program Opportunities
Our low-cost land-based Source program that helps teachers incorporate student-inquiry by bringing the excitement of field investigations home and into each school’s local watershed. The entire 8-10 hour program can be carried out during your class times and right on your school campus. Source participation is a stand alone program or it can act as an optional addition to our boat-based Sound program, and can involve solely the sailing group, or expand to include up to an entire grade level.
A new addition to our program! As a culminating event, teachers and students have the option to add a restoration component to the end of their Source program. Students engage in a variety of hands-on restoration activities, from working with local professional site partners to designing their own restoration projects on campus.
Spring Program Opportunities
Our boat-based Sound program provides 3-5 day expeditions where students sail aboard the 61' Carlyn Research Vessel and conduct original marine science research under the careful guidance of the Salish crew. This program is available for up to 30 passengers. Our program’s mobility necessitates coordinating our programs geographically. Logistically, it is difficult to serve a north sound group right before or after a south sound group, as moving the boat from one location to another takes several days. Thus, we try to accommodate the date and location requests of all participating groups while also maximizing our program capacity.
Open Enrollment Program
If you are an individual or are with a small group who would like to be joined with another group, please mention during registration and we will add you to our Open Enrollment email list.
*Note- Salish Sea Expeditions staff will make every effort to grant each group’s first request. If the date/location is acceptable, we will send a contract to you. We then need your signed contract along with your non-refundable deposit to hold your date.
